I bought this as a Valentines present for my fiance. He had been looking for one for a while. It's nice that I was actually able to find one. However, when it arrived, it's not as heavy as it looks. I was expecting something more sturdy to hold it's own against a big block of cheese. But, nonetheless, it works just like we wanted it to. Hope he likes it!

Its hard to say if I could recommend this to a friend only because when it arrived as a gift for my brother for Christmas it was already broken! The wire that was installed had already snapped and was difficult to take out. Another backup wire was broken in the package as well...which left this cheese slicer with one wire left...kind of disappointing...and embarrassing for me to give a gift that couldn't be used.

I bought this for my father-in-law. It turned out to be better then the marble base one I got him last year in two ways. 1) easier to clean 2) easier to change the wire if and when it breaks. He's 89 years young, and is happy with this one.

Nice looking - however the wire blades break very easily. Dropped it the other day and the blade broke. Cutting cheddar cheese and the blade broke. Would not recommend it to anyone who slices alot of cheese products. In the process of returning the one I ordered.
