SPREAD THE WORD!

DEADLINE: August 31, 2014 at 11:59pm ET

WHAT CAN I SUBMIT?
Whatever your creative heart desires. Just be sure to keep the Wanderlust theme in mind. Overall, we're looking for art that takes the idea of "wanderlust" and interprets that single word into creative and unique ways. It could definitely include travel and geography, landscapes and architecture but also - how does the idea of wanderlust inspire imagination? Where do your daydreams take you? The word "wanderlust" is not a requirement to be added onto your art piece. Take a peek at our Art Contest Inspiration Pinterest Board to see our very own wanderlust vision.

We're a company that is animal-friendly, so please refrain from including leather, suede, bones, and antlers in your art work. The winning piece will need to be translated into a scan and will be sold as a print reproduction. It will be printed and framed by UncommonGoods so a super-high res version should be available for our buying team if what you are sending is not the biggest version. Although we love to see photography and three-dimensional art, this is not the contest for you. Check out our design challenge calendar to see when we are calling for those entries.

HOW CAN I SUBMIT?
You can submit your designs right from this page! Scroll down all the way to bottom of this page and click on the "ENTER HERE"" bar. You are able to submit up to five photos. (Yet one photo is acceptable as well.) You can also submit up to five different art pieces if you have multiple designs you'd like to share with us, but this is not a requirement. If your photos are not able to upload or if you do not receive a confirmation email, please email your images, contact info, website, product story, and materials used at art-contest@uncommongoods.com.

WHAT ARE BUYERS LOOKING FOR?
We take the term "uncommon" pretty seriously around here and are on the hunt for truly unique art work. Our buyers love anything that has an exciting story so tell us about it in your entry. Where does your inspiration come from? What hurdles have you jumped to get to your beautiful finished piece? Lastly, we love designs made from unique, unexpected materials, and we love it even more if those materials are reclaimed. Not a requirement, but it would make us smile.

WHAT DO I GET IF I WIN?
If you are our grand prize winner - and let's face it, why wouldn't you be? - you'll receive $1000 cash (OK it's a check, but you get the idea) and 5% royalties for every print that's sold. You'll work with your assigned buyer to decide how your product will be sold based on your production capacity. Your design will be shown on UncommonGoods.com, in our marketing emails, and possibly in the catalog. You also reserve the right for a judgment-free victory dance.

WHAT IF I DON'T WIN?
This question bums us out, but all runners-up will receive a critique of their work from the guest judges, will receive tips for marketing and growing their businesses from the UncommonGoods marketing team, and may still be considered for entrance into our collection.

I STILL HAVE A QUESTION!

JUDGING PANEL
LEONORA JENNIFER
Ever since she was 2 feet tall Leonora has always been into art and doodling on any surface that seemed "doodle-able" (paper, cardboard, the couch, her mom's forehead that one time she fell asleep...) She went to college for a degree in digital art and design. She works full time as a graphic artist and works on her shop, YellowHeartArt.etsy.com, in her "free" time.
DANIELLE KRYSA
Danielle Krysa has a BFA in Fine Arts, and a post-grad in graphic design. She is the writer and curator behind The Jealous Curator, an art blog where she writes about contemporary art that makes her jealous (in a good way, of course!). Along with writing a daily post on her own site, Danielle has also written guest posts for West Elm, Style by Emily Henderson, Etsy, and many others. Danielle's first book, Creative Block, was released in February of 2014 by Chronicle Books.
RUBYELLEN BRATCHER
Rubyellen spends her days making, decorating, teaching, celebrating, cooking, and loving on her family. She chronicles these moments on her blog Cakies and somewhere in between she also found the time to write a book called Let's Sew Together due out this spring. She loves flexing her creative muscles and hopes to inspire her daughters (and readers) to do the same.
CANDACE HOLLOWAY GREGORY
Candace is Senior Buyer at UncommonGoods. Her love for performing and fine arts and interest in the behavior of people brought her to New York City to study psychology and art history and eventually to a career in retail buying. Her ideal day would start with a movie on the couch with her husband and her dog Libby; include walk/swim on the beach then an epic beach nap; and end with a dinner, cooked by her mother, with friends and family.
