Malak Atut is the creative mind behind ZAIKEN Jewelry, whose designs, with their fusion of styles and influences have had the jewelry industry taking notice since the inception of her line in 2010. Named after her sons, Zain, meaning “Object of Beauty” and Kenz, meaning “Treasure,” Malak’s unique sensibility springs from a life-long love of jewelry combined with a multicultural New York City upbringing. This background guides her design ethos of “East meets West with an urban edge”, drawing on classical and modern elements. She is commited to this idea in the production of her creations solely in New York City, beliefs she encapsulates within her creative mantra, “Conceived globally, made locally.” Using the finest gold, sterling silver, and various gem stones, Malak melds thoughtful design and elegant simplicity with hand crafted artistry to create jewelry that transcends trends and transitions easily from day to evening and from workweek to weekend, making the pieces immediate staples of the modern woman’s wardrobe. A fresh perspective for the 21st century as technology, travel and globalization bring the cultures of the world closer together, Malak's on-trend point of view has been acknowledged by industry experts in her nomination for a 2012 award for Excellence in Style and Design by the prestigious Women’s Jewelry Association (WJA). Additionally, her work has been featured in the TJF Trend Book, the World Gold Council, and media outlets including ABC News, The Today Show, People Style Watch, and INDESIGN Magazine, amongst others. Malak lives in Northern New Jersey with her husband and two young sons.
