Joseph and Miranda Skar
Dedicating their lives to the intriguing art of flame-working, Joseph and Miranda Skar have spent countless hours and several years perfecting their chosen craft. From 2001, the eager couple worked and apprenticed in various spaces until they were able to convert a decommissioned school bus into a full-fledged mobile studio in 2008. Now, the Skars can focus on their respective specialties; Miranda is a master of hollowing techniques, spinning molten glass into exquisite vessels, while Joe creates solid sculptures, pendants and marbles that are unique, simple and elegant. The two have a few other things in common, as well: a love for their daughter and an adoration for the Pacific Northwest.
