Lyn Swan has been a studio potter for more than 25 years, and she is continually fascinated by the texture of clay, its plasticity and flexibility. These characteristics allow Swan to capture a mood and preserve it--and then enhance it with color.
Swan's dishes offer subtle and often not-so-subtle contrasts in style, texture and color. All of her pieces are built by hand one at a time in a series of 12. First, she forms the shapes and textures them. Next, she fires them in a kiln. Then she applies colored glazes and fires the pieces again. Each dish travels its own journey.
