Laura is committed to using sustainable materials and practices whenever possible. Raw materials found in thrift stores and the backs of closets, with their funky patterns and unique histories, are the inspiration behind many of her creations. These components are integrated into the design in such a way that closer inspection of the patterns and textures is needed to realize what they used to be. The recycled materials Laura uses are inexpensive, abundant, and have a character that only comes with having a previous life. Even when used in the same design over and over, because of the inherent singularity of the material the results are not cookie-cutter copies of one another.
